To All,
This summer we have been flooded with
house check requests, particularly in the Cypress Village tour zones and
many drivers are attempting to complete all of them on their two-hour tour. Remember,
our primary responsibility is to patrol the streets of Sugarmill Woods and
be a visible representative of the Sheriff. House checks are a
courtesy offered by the Sheriff's' Office and performed by us. There
is no requirement to check every house every day, especially when there
may be 20-25 checks on a given tour. I suggest you look to see
when the house was last checked by a walk-around. If it was within the
last few days, do a drive-by cursory check. Also, on afternoon
tours when it's 95 degrees out, stay in the car!.
While I certainly appreciate your dedication, your health is more important.
No one wants heat stroke. Thank you for your continued cooperation.

When buying gas for the vehicle, the
pump card reader asks first for a User ID and then for the mileage.
Some of you are entering our Pin #2005 when the pump card reader asks for
the vehicle mileage. This results in a false reading which,
according to Sgt. Evan, adversely affects the Sheriff's vehicle gas
report. Please make sure the correct information is entered when
prompted by the pump card reader.
Also, if the pump card reader is not
working and you get a receipt from inside, make sure you ask for a
receipt that shows the mileage, the amount of gas purchased and the total
price. This saves me from having to get this info from the
gas station later on.
Finally, make sure all of the above
information is recorded on the Driver Log Sheet. Thank you for
your continued cooperation.
Dick
Note from Sgt Evan: Be
aware that some pumps require the mileage first and then the PIN. In
any case, just follow the prompts on the screen and everything should be
fine. Thanks

NOTICE:
The new Volunteer Handbook can be accessed online by clicking here
or on the link
below at the lower left.
To All,
The Sheriff's Office has recently released a new Volunteer Unit Rules
& Procedures Handbook. This replaces the Volunteer Handbook which
was issued you when you joined.
Because of the cost, this book will not be issued to all individuals.
A copy is located in our Crimewatch vehicle and it can be viewed and
downloaded from both the Sheriff's website or our smwcw.org website.
The password necessary to access the handbook is on our website. Sgt.
Evan said at our February meeting it is everyone's responsibility to review
the handbook. The last section of the handbook is reserved for memos
and directives from the Sheriff's Office so please check this when starting
your tour.
